I've been using LK regularly for a while, and the thing that has always stuck out as a sore thumb compared to the rest of LK's ease of use, is how external links are implemented. With 1.0 coming up, this is probably a good time to revise this flow.
First, as far as I know, there is no shortcut to create a link. Ctrl+K is a common shortcut for this in other major apps, and I'd like to suggest this gets bound to creating a link.
Second, the UI steps to create a link are currently:
1) Highlight some text
2) Click the external link button -- Nothing visibly happens after this, which is confusing. You must click somewhere else to remove your highlight, allowing you to see the newly created linked text, which is now underlined and blue.
3) Click the link you created
4) In the pop-up box, you must click a few times to highlight the example.com text, and replace it with your own.
5) You MUST hit Enter. If you simply click away, the popup box disappears without any indication that what you just pasted wasn't saved. If you click the link again, you see the example.com link remains. This is super unintuitive.
6) Now that the external link is created, if you want to actually follow the link, you have to click the linked text and THEN click the little arrow and box button on the pop-up.
The issues here are that creating links in other platforms are as simple as Ctrl+K, then Ctrl+V to paste. Additionally following links is normally a one click process. Streamlining this would be nice, I've hit this issue several times and it's just so clunky compared to the rest of LK's smooth usage
